Chapter 2688
Chapter 2688: Gu Kecheng
After waiting for a few minutes, Gu Kecheng received Yuan’s challenge request.
<Player Yuan(Master) has sent you a match request for One Above All>
<Win Condition: 5,000 Gaia Points> <Lose Condition: N/A>
[Player Yuan]
[Cultivation: Fourth Level Sixth Ascension]
[One Above All: Grandmaster]
[One Above All Highest Win Streak: 600]
"?!?!?!?!"
Gu Kecheng’s eyes popped out of their sockets from shock and disbelief after he saw Yuan’s stats.
"What the fuck is that?!" he cried out loud.
Gu Kecheng had managed to reach the rank of Warrior since his last custom match with Yuan, and he’d even received some private training from his family, which is why he felt confident. However, after seeing Yuan’s stats for One Above All, that confidence shattered like fragile glass after being smashed by a massive rock.
"G-Grandmaster? Fourth Level Sixth Ascension? Six hundred win streak?! He’d grown that much in just a year?! That’s impossible!" Gu Kecheng refused to believe it.
"I know! There must be a glitch in the system!"
After somehow convincing himself of that, Gu Kecheng accepted Yuan’s challenge request.
<Match will begin in 10 seconds>
"Oh?"
A surprised smile appeared on Yuan’s face when he saw that Gu Kecheng had accepted his challenge request.
Given his stats, he fully expected Gu Kecheng to decline. Yet, the opposite had happened.
<Your match will begin now>
<Teleporting to arena in 3...2..1...>
Once they were teleported to the arena, Yuan couldn’t help but ask, "Hey, I have to ask... Why did you accept my challenge?"
"What do you mean?" Gu Kecheng responded with a puzzled look.
"Did you not see my stats when I sent you the challenge request?"
Yuan could only assume that Gu Kecheng had accepted the challenge without checking them, as that was the most logical explanation.
Gu Kecheng sneered before responding, "I don’t know how you managed to bug out the system to make it show such ridiculous stats, but do you think you can scare me with such fake stats? If you’re going to do something like that, at least make it more believable!"
"Fake? You think I faked my stats?" Yuan muttered, looking genuinely surprised by Gu Kecheng’s response.
"Stop looking down on me! Do you think I am stupid or something?!"
Yuan shook his head and sighed.
"Whatever. You’ll find out whether they’re real or fake in a moment."
A few moments later, Gu Kecheng made the first move, shooting a barrage of Limitless bullets at Yuan.
’Oh? Looks like he’s learned a few things since our last match.’ Yuan smiled inwardly when he noticed that Gu Kecheng was no longer using his Limitless recklessly.
Although it appeared threatening at first glance, the bullets carried very little power and were mostly for show, as if Gu Kecheng were trying to intimidate Yuan through sheer numbers alone.
"A neat trick, but it’s pointless if you can’t aim properly," Yuan remarked as he stood perfectly still, allowing the bullets to miss him without moving an inch.
"Let me show you how it’s done."
Yuan created four bullets and fired them at Gu Kecheng, each one striking its mark perfectly. Two hit his shoulders, while the other two struck his knees—one on each side.
"Ah!" Gu Kecheng screamed in pain as he collapsed to his knees, feeling as though someone had smashed both kneecaps with a hammer.
"Here are a few more."
Before Gu Kecheng could even get back to his feet, Yuan showered him with a barrage of bullets. However, each one carried far less power than the previous four, as Yuan had no intention of ending the fight so quickly.
"Get up if you don’t want to lose," Yuan said.
With no other choice, Gu Kecheng gritted his teeth and used Limitless to lift himself into the air, as his legs were essentially crippled.
"Fuck you!"
Gu Kecheng cursed as he began bombarding Yuan with Limitless from above. Although his attacks made it seem as though he had lost control, he was actually still regulating his output carefully so that he wouldn’t exhaust himself too quickly.
"You’ve really grown..." Yuan remarked with a smile.
However, his smile quickly faded.
"Unfortunately, you’re still a tad bit away from defeating me..."
With a flick of his wrist, Yuan created tens of thousands of bullets from Limitless.
"W-What the hell is that...?" Gu Kecheng muttered in a dazed voice, his eyes wide with bewilderment, as he’d never seen anything even remotely close to what he was currently witnessing before.
"Once we’re done here, go tell your family who you bullied today, since you seem to have forgotten. Also, make sure to mention Gu Ming. Tell them that he screamed like a little bitch when I last saw him."
"W-What do you mean by that?!" Gu Kecheng exclaimed.
Yuan offered no response and simply unleashed his attack, bombarding Gu Kecheng with tens of thousands of bullets.
Since each bullet had been deliberately weakened, Gu Kecheng endured several thousand of them before finally being sent back to the waiting room.
Even though the match had already ended, Gu Kecheng could still feel pain, almost as if he was still being struck by the bullets.
"Y-Yuan! I’ll definitely make you pay for this!" he cried, tears streaming down his face as snot ran from his nose.
Once Gu Kecheng calmed down a few minutes later, he immediately left the waiting room and waited for Yuan. However, Yuan had left the moment the match ended and went to compete in Last Man Standing to finish his monthly limit for that mode.
After reaching his monthly limit in Last Man Standing with another 100-win streak, Yuan left Gaia’s Sanctum entirely and made his way back to base.
Meanwhile, Gu Kecheng called his father after realizing that Yuan was no longer at Gaia’s Sanctum.
"Father! Do you know someone by the name of Yuan?! He claimed to have joined the military recently!"
Although he couldn’t see it, Gu Kecheng’s father immediately frowned upon hearing this familiar name.
"Why are you asking about him?" he asked in a serious tone.
