Chapter 2690
Chapter 2690: Level 5 Treatment
"Oh? Credential Rank 6?" Yuan muttered in a pleasantly surprised voice after seeing that his Credential Rank had gone up a level more than he had anticipated, wondering if the Supreme General had something to do with it.
The worker opened the machine shortly later and said, "It’s done. Your Credential Rank has been upgraded."
"Thank you."
"Umm... sorry for what happened during your prior visit."
Yuan shook his head.
"There’s no need to apologize, as you were simply doing your job."
After leaving the building, Yuan headed home to remove his curses. Although he could have done so there, he felt it would be more appropriate to handle something like that in private, even if the entire process was carried out through the system.
Once he was inside his room, Yuan sat in the lotus position and closed his eyes.
"System, remove my curses."

<A curse has been removed from the user>
The moment the curse was removed, Yuan immediately felt lighter, as though invisible chains he had never realized were binding him had been stripped away.
But he wasn’t done, and the next treatment immediately began.
<Gaia’s System has sensed an anomaly in the user>

<Utilizing Level 5 Treatment>
However, upon reaching this point, something unexpected happened.
<Warning! Warning! Warning!>
Warnings started appearing before Yuan.
[Warning: Level 5 treatment may cause intense pain for the user due to the nature of the anomaly]
Yuan swallowed nervously when he saw this.
"I guess I was naive to think this would go smoothly..." he sighed, though he wasn’t particularly surprised by it.
"Proceed with treatment."
After mentally preparing himself, Yuan approved of the treatment.
<Treatment has been approved by the user>
<Utilizing Level 5 Treatment>
The pain came swiftly and fiercely, tearing through Yuan’s entire body as though every part of him were being ripped apart over and over again.
He could feel his muscles being torn apart, his bones shattering into countless pieces, and even every cell in his body bursting—all at once. The agony rivaled the pain he had experienced when his soul was being destroyed by the Celestial Emperor, if not surpassed it entirely.
Yuan tried his best to suppress the urge to scream, but his resistance did not last long. Shortly after the treatment began, agonized screams erupted from his throat with enough force to make the entire building tremble.
Had it not been for the sound-concealment formations within the building, his screams would have pierced through the walls and echoed outside.
<Treatment Completed>
<A curse has been removed from the user>
Although the entire treatment lasted no more than ten minutes, it felt like an eternity to Yuan, and by the end, he was soaked in sweat, looking like he’d just emerged from being fully submerged in water.
Afterward, Yuan lay on the floor, staring blankly at the ceiling as he quietly wondered what had changed.
’It doesn’t feel like anything has changed, but there’s no way a treatment that caused such an intense reaction did nothing!’ he thought.
’Now that I think about it... What even are these curses?’
He recalled his meeting with Zhai Ye, an expert on curses.
’He claimed that I have multiple natural curses on me...’
Although Yuan had known for some time that he was afflicted by several powerful curses, he still had no idea how they affected him or how he had acquired them in the first place. Despite being told that they were natural curses, his instincts told him otherwise.
"How ridiculous..." Yuan sighed out loud.
However, knowing nothing about the curses wasn’t even the worst part.
"That was just a level 5 treatment..."
When Yuan first acquired Gaia’s System, it had attempted to administer a Level 9 treatment but failed due to his insufficient credentials. This meant he still had at least four more treatments ahead of him, each potentially more painful than the last.
Even though Yuan was accustomed to pain and had tempered his mental fortitude to unfathomable levels, he still felt a trace of nervousness when thinking about his future treatments.
"Let’s not immediately begin the next treatment..."
In the end, Yuan decided to postpone the Level 6 treatment. Not only would doing so give him some time to mentally prepare himself, but it would also allow him to observe and compare the changes brought about by each treatment... if there were even any.
Some time later, after he had rested enough, Yuan cleaned his room before washing himself as well.
After stepping out of the bathroom, he considered going to Mei Feng to inform her that he wanted to enter the Black Zone and continue his training. However, just as he reached the door to go outside, a profound change suddenly occurred within his body, forcing him to his knees.
"?!?!"
Yuan stared at the floor, looking bewildered.
’My body... feels incredibly weak!’ he cried inwardly, feeling as though something had sapped away all of his strength in an instant.
He quickly examined his body, but he couldn’t find anything wrong with it, and even his Dantian and cultivation appeared perfectly fine.
’What’s going on? Why do I feel so weak when nothing about my body has changed?’
Suddenly, a realization struck him.
"What if it wasn’t my body that changed... but my soul?" he muttered in a daze.
He immediately examined his soul, and sure enough, it felt different from before. But no matter how carefully he inspected it, he couldn’t determine exactly what had changed.
With no other choice, Yuan lay on the floor and continued examining his soul while waiting to see if his condition would improve with time.
Yet, as time passed, his condition only worsened, eventually reaching the point where he could no longer remain conscious and slowly drifted into a deep slumber.
As he slept, Yuan dreamed of Gaia’s Heaven—of the time when he had first arrived in this world. However, there were major differences between the dream and what he actually experienced, making it feel almost like an entirely different life.
