Chapter 5365
Chapter 5362: Azariel’s Transformation
Azariel nearly saw a huge mountain of ice behind his father and Fairy Glacia Frigidveil, and inside it was an Emperor-Tier Nine-Headed Hydra, its essence completely sealed. However, it merely came off as an illusion projected by the thing in Fairy Glacia’s hands.
It appeared to be a gourd in the form of a sword, its blade sharp like a hook, but the back of the hilt seemingly appeared to have a hole that led to some kind of storage space.
The two of them descended, and Fairy Glacia flicked her sleeve as she drew the sword out, pointing at Azariel, which made him flinch.
"Don’t tell me you’re going to stab me with it?"
Azariel quivered as he turned to look at his father.
Davis merely shrugged.
Azariel was about to explode when Fairy Glacia Frigidveil explained.
"This sword is called an Extraction Gourd Sword."
"I would need to freeze a lot of my prey while hunting them, and making the ice thaw will allow them to escape, so I had long devised a method to extract blood while keeping them sealed as I made my own. As for what’s inside- I think this Nine-Headed Hydra’s name was Ghorzen Nyssadra, an Upper Realm’s Realm Master of the Hydra Galaxy. I’m not sure if he’s still alive or not. I’m positive I killed him when I sliced his head, but hydras can be really cunning. They could be hidden deeper."
"Oh." Azariel looked worried, "Doesn’t that mean he could possibly overwhelm me?"
"Don’t worry, child. My destructive ice isn’t for show. Even if he survived, he couldn’t have held out this long. He should really be dead."
"Ha...ha..."
Azariel laughed dryly, not knowing what to say.
He could tell he was experimental subject 001 all the way for his father, but even Fairy Glacia approved of this?
"And don’t worry about karma. I took the time to pluck his dead karmic threads one after another. Even his relations wouldn’t be able to trace his bloodline anymore. That’s why it took more time than expected, but it’s as you said. We managed to retrieve most of his bloodsoul essence and truesoul essence, leaving behind his carcass that could be used as nourishment for the World Hegemon treasures we have."
"..."
Azariel nodded absentmindedly, thinking that no matter what his father would bring next, he shouldn’t be surprised.
"What else?" But he still found himself asking.
Davis took out a black vial, "We’ll use a few milliliters, a very small quantity of the Abyssal Hydra Bloodfruit Essence. It’s a heavenly resource that has matured, containing the tenacious regeneration ability of a hydra and allowing one’s body to become immune to major kinds of poison. Although it’s doubtful you’ll gain immunity to those poisons with this kind of paltry amount, the regeneration factor won’t allow you to collapse while your avatar transforms; that’s for sure."
"I see, I see."
Azariel nodded, but internally, he was screaming.
A World Hegemon Grade resource for an Empyrean like him? How was he supposed to absorb it!? Just what was the resource that was being used to create an avatar, then!?
He nearly wanted to back out as regret filled his heart.
"Fortunately, it’s a heavenly resource, so drinking it raw wouldn’t be a problem." Davis sighed gently, "Originally, I would’ve loved for you to take this treasure all to yourself, but you still need to cultivate more and reach the Exalt Stage."
"Right?" Azariel shook his head, "It’s too precious. You can’t use it on me."
"How can that be?" Davis raised his brows, "You need this, or the formation of the avatar would fail, and the backlash would wreck your true body’s soul."
"..."
Azariel wanted to write his Will at this point.
"Can I talk to mother before this?"
Davis shook his head, "You’re only going to make her cry that way."
Azariel sighed lightly, "Fine, fine, let’s get on with my funeral."
"Good!"
As Davis praised, Azariel’s figure flickered, and he split into two as his avatar appeared.
It stood separate from him and closed its eyes.
As for Azariel, he continued to watch his father do something incredulous again. The latter sat in mid-air, floating as he began to cultivate. Chaos energy swelled from him, making Azariel’s eyes go wide in shock each passing moment.
On the mansion terrace, the thunder arrived before any of their family members spoke.
Evelynn stood at the railing with both hands closed over the wood, watching the secluded grounds disappear under a sky that kept tearing itself open. Black lightning walked the clouds and mist of darkness behind each strike, and every flash threw their faces into hard relief before the night rushed back thicker than before.
Evelynn’s breath misted despite the warmth of the hour.
Her third eye was wide open, and she could feel the drop in Davis’s cultivation like a missing note in a song she had known for years, and the knowledge sat cold behind her ribs as she shuddered. Beside her, the others had gone quiet in their own ways. One gripped the sleeve of her robe until the silk creased. Another leaned forward as if proximity could make the barriers disappear, as though they might appear in the training grounds.
Nine necks grew in that area like smoke rising to the skies.
A pillar of black lightning struck the heart of the training grounds and did not fade. It stood there, rooted, hissing, while sheets of darkness rolled outward and curled back like tide against the formation walls. Within that column, they could see their Azariel’s outline warped like a shadow of his projection, shoulders broadening, spine lengthening, something vast trying to wear a human shape and being forced, inch by inch, to remember it. The hydra essence he was being injected with howled without a voice.
Fiora’s fingers worried the edge of her sleeve until the silk creased, "For an avatar- for Azariel, he is still only an Empyrean. What kind of avatar vessel is required for an Emperor-Tier Nine-Headed Hydra’s Essence at the Peak of the Exalt Grade just to remain in form? Does it make sense that he would survive?"
