Chapter 5374
Chapter 5371: Seeking Warmth In the Northern Icy Lands
Davis descended into the palace, his aura unrestricted.
One aura went silent, while two others hurriedly rushed to the entrance.
Frostrose arrived first, her long white hair streaming behind her with deep blue undertones that caught the pale northern light. The strands fell past her waist, partially bound by an ornate silver headpiece set with blue gems and a slender black pin, a crescent mark resting between her brows.
Her pale face held a composed expression, red-tinted eyeshadow, white eyes calm as she regarded him. She wore a dark blue and black robe cut low at the chest and layered with silver-blue embroidery of swirling symbols, the fabric open along one side to reveal a white skirt that clung and parted with her movement. Large white wings rested half-spread behind her shoulders, their feathers edged in soft blue, while dangling earrings and a circular ornament at her waist swayed lightly as she stepped forward and offered a small bow.
Flamerose followed a breath later, gazing at her twin sister with some confusion as to why Frostrose would rush faster than her. She landed, her crimson hair flaring outward in thick waves that faded to orange near the tips, held in place by a golden hairpiece with a red ornament and a trailing green tassel.
A small red mark that was like a sun sat on her forehead. Her eyes, sharp and warm, flicked over Davis before her lips curved. She was dressed in a form-fitting red top with black trim and gold clasps that left her midriff bare, paired with a short golden skirt edged in black and embroidered with floral patterns. Golden wing-like ornaments adorned her thighs, and her large golden wings swayed gently. Black heels clicked softly against the stone. She placed one hand on her hip and inclined her head in greeting, the motion unhurried.
"Yo, if it isn’t the Divine Emperor of Death who’s too busy to meet us~"
"Yo?" Davis appeared amused at this Solar Emberwing Phoenix being corrupted by Shirley’s way of speaking, which got corrupted by Mingzhi.
However, his heart warmed to see Flamerose still trust him, not that he knew if she knew how dangerous he was, but she should know, considering Shirley didn’t hide anything from them. He walked over to them and chuckled, "Why are you ladies still in the Empyrean Beast Stage? By this time, you should’ve all become Exalt Beasts."
"You wish~" Flamerose spread her hands, "We wish, but it’s not happening when we’ve just managed to reach Level Four Empyrean Beast Stage. After all, we just broke through three months ago. With the resources you provide, breaking through a level a month in the Empyrean Beast Stage is already luxurious if you ask me. Or are you mocking us for being slower than you when you’re already extremely powerful- mhm!?"
She pouted as she leaned over him, raising her voice.
Davis chuckled awkwardly, "How can that be? I only want you two to be more powerful, even if it’s for selfish reasons such as Shirley’s growth. I’ll look for ways for you to enter the Grand Ancestral Beast Rank."
Flamerose’s brows raised as she reeled back, "That’s way too burdensome for us."
"Yes," Frostrose supported her statement, "Our species have uniquely branched yet need to maintain equilibrium. Otherwise, icefire would be lost. Besides, just when we thought we were out of debt because of our achievements in the Elemental Dimension, Your Majesty suggests we should encumber more debt?"
She asked calmly.
Flamerose gazed at her twin sister, wondering why she would address Davis as ’His Majesty’, and then she suddenly recalled that the Davis Family had officially become an Empire.
She stuck her tongue out lightly, wanting to rectify her previous statements, but Davis flicked his sleeves.
"Aiya, we’re all one family. Why bother about debts?"
"We-"
Flamerose was about to explain, but at this moment, footsteps could be heard from behind.
A third figure emerged from deeper within the palace.
Davis could see it was none other than Bing Luli.
Bing Luli’s light blue hair fell in smooth lengths past her shoulders, adorned with a delicate silver crown of small flowers and leaves. Her blue eyes held a mild warmth as she approached, one hand lightly adjusting the high collar of her dark blue and black robe. The garment was fitted through the chest with pale blue and silver embroidery, a wide belt of matching fabric and metal ornaments cinching her waist, while layered blue skirts brushed the floor.
She stopped a short distance away and offered a polite nod, "Your Majesty Davis, I was about to leave to procure a few resources in the core region. Please do not let my departure interrupt your discussion."
Her words were measured, and she turned slightly toward the open air beyond the palace doors, already preparing to depart.
Davis was about to let her leave since he had come for Frostrose, but he raised his hand, blocking her path.
"Wait, take Flamerose with you. She should be able to help you stay warm within the core icy lands. Also, come with me to the side for a moment."
Davis walked over to the corner.
Bing Luli blinked.
She gazed at Flamerose and Frostrose, her lips parting behind her veil in question as she wanted to ask what was going on, but she pursed her lips and followed after Davis.
Frostrose and Flamerose were also confused.
Standing near a pillar, Davis flicked a spatial sound barrier, "Did you send me a marriage proposal?"
"...?" Bing Luli’s gaze flickered, "What?"
"I see."
Davis nodded in understanding.
For someone who had sent a marriage proposal, Davis felt that her emotions were not swaying as he had expected, so he became doubtful. It turns out that it was Myria’s sneaky deed.
He momentarily paused, turning speechless as he didn’t know how to continue the conversation.
"This..." Bing Luli’s lips twitched, "Don’t tell me the soul aura I stamped on a scroll and gave it to Myria was used to..."
"Indeed." Davis nodded softly, "I apologize on Myria’s behalf. I will discard the marriage proposal and treat it as if nothing happened."
Davis took a step back and cupped his hands.
Seeing this, Bing Luli instantly took a step forward and reached out with her hand, "No. I am... indeed... interested in you. I won’t let you say you didn’t know, as I have been open about it in the past."
She said, a faint red hue enveloping her cheeks, but it was hidden behind her white veil. Her heart sped up rapidly at this sudden turn of events where she was forced to confess.
However, Davis still appeared confused. He leaned closer and asked, "Are you saying my Myria didn’t make a mistake?"
"Yes," Bing Luli’s blush grew more visible as it reached her ears. She clenched her teeth lightly and uttered, "I did explicitly state that I would like to marry you to my friend Myria, and it seems like, to hasten our relationship, she might’ve put forward that proposal to catch your attention. It’s truly not her fault. I am the one to blame. Afraid of being rejected to the face, I haven’t made much effort to pursue you and was focused on cultivation, but since that marriage proposal landed on your desk, I’ll take it as my doing. I hope it doesn’t have any weird inclinations or conditions written on it."
Davis’s gaze flickered. He took a step forward, closing the distance as he leaned over her ear, "It said that you have a big heart to be affectionate with a married man like me."
"..."
Bing Luli’s heart skipped a beat.
She instantly had the urge to hide her big bosoms, but he stood straight again and moved away amusedly.
She watched him walk back to the twins, a bit taken aback as she felt that Davis was somewhat different, but she didn’t seem to dislike it. She then saw Flamerose rush towards her.
"Sect Master Bing Luli, do you need my help?"
"I... I could use it..."
"Alright, hop on~"
Flamerose turned into a Solar Emberwing Phoenix with a ten-meter wingspan, making Bing Luli speechless as she wondered why Flamerose was eager to take her away, not knowing that Flamerose was a chatterbox and loved to hear what had just happened between her and Davis right now.
The two of them left, leaving Davis and Frostrose all alone.
A vague silence hung between them before Frostrose moved and fell into his embrace, their lips instantly connecting as they shared a passionate kiss, lips puckering and tongues dancing.
"Mhm~ Your majesty~"
"Frostrose, I missed you so much."
Davis grasped her buttcheeks, squeezing them as he pleased while devouring her sweet and icy lips. Her white wings with a lunar aura also encompassed him, giving him a smooth feeling as though he was floating while kissing her.
Frostrose felt overwhelmed quickly.
She had only wanted to share a passionate kiss for a few seconds, but at this rate, she imagined that they might sleep together.
"Where’s your bedroom, my little bird? We’ll catch up as much as we want there."
Davis picked her up as he lifted her thighs up from below, carrying her with two arms. Frostrose’s pale cheeks were already red like an apple. She silently pointed down the hallway, leading Davis to her bedroom, a silent consent given out which made her heart race. She leaned over his chest, hugging him like a little bird he had called out to, a pleased smile inevitably etching her cold face.
